Hobbit is a 5.6-mile out-and-back hike in the Boulder Ranger District of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests in Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises about 220 feet from a low point of 8,604 feet to a high of 8,851 feet, and it is rated moderate. The route is natural-surfaced and allows horses, so riders can take it as well as hikers. The trailhead is at West Magnolia, and the hike is open year-round. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Coal Creek Canyon weather station, at a similar elevation, show July highs around 73°F with lows near 48°F, while winter highs stay in the low 30s. Reroot and the Observatory Trail both start about 0.2 miles away, and West Magnolia campground is also close by. Eldora Summer Slab, a climbing area, is about 1.4 miles off.
