Prairie Point Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Dillon Ranger District of Colorado's White River National Forest. It sits within the national forest's recreation sites, and the Forest Service manages the land. The site is simple, with vault toilets as the only listed amenity. A fee is charged for stays. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Green Mt Dam, at a similar elevation, show July highs around 79°F with lows near 44°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. Shane Gulch is a hike about 0.1 mile away, and McDonald Flats Campground is about half a mile off. Farther out, Brush Creek offers another hike at about 2.7 miles, and the Cataract Lake (Heeney, Colorado) climbing area is about 5.1 miles away.
