Waterway West is a bouldering area in California, about half a mile from the town of Columbia. It sits right next to the Waterway Caves and the Labyrinth climbing areas, which makes it easy to pair with those spots on a single visit. The climbing here is all bouldering, with 13 routes spread across the area. Grades run from V0+ up to V6, with the median around V3. Some of the named routes include Hot-noon arete at V0+, Anarchy left finish at V5, and Hidden in Plain Sight at V6-7. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Sonora weather station show May and October highs around 76°F with only a few wet days, while July and August average highs in the low 90s. The closest trails are the Summit Trail, about 3 miles away, and the Cutback Trail, about 3.2 miles away. Paddlers can reach the Stanislaus River, roughly 6 miles off.
