Wall of sage is a climbing area within the Carlsbad Highlands Ecological Reserve in California, managed by State Fish and Wildlife. It sits among several other climbing spots and hiking trails in this part of the reserve, so it works well as a stop in a day of exploring the reserve's climbing and trails. The weather station at Carlsbad Palomar, about 2.3 miles away, records typical averages that make summer and early fall the warmest stretch. Typical highs reach about 76°F in August and September, with lows in the mid-60s and only a day or two of rain a month. Winter stays mild, with typical highs around 65°F. Planet Space Ball is the closest climbing area, about 0.3 miles away, and Calavera Lake is about 0.4 miles off.
