Train Time Wall is a climbing area in the Truckee Ranger District of Tahoe National Forest in California, close to the boundaries of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. It sits in a cluster of climbing spots, with the East Face and Brain Block climbing areas each about 0.1 mile away. The wall's name comes from its routes. Train Time is one of them, a 5.11a trad climb with a first ascent in the 1980s. The area has nine routes in total, eight of them trad and one sport, with grades ranging from 5.7 to 5.11a. The hardest is Train Time, and the easiest is Backtrack at 5.7. Other routes include Train in Vein, a 5.8- trad climb, and Amtrak Lieback, a 5.10- trad climb. Summer is the most comfortable season to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 82°F and lows near 44°F, with only about two wet days in the month. The station sits about 1,000 feet below the wall, so temperatures up high run cooler. Winter brings typical highs in the low 40s and lows in the teens, with around 10 wet days a month from December through February.
