Split Rock West is a bouldering area in Donner Memorial State Park, California, within the Truckee Ranger District of Tahoe National Forest. The land is managed by State Park and Recreation, and the area sits about 0.1 mile from Split Rock East and the Split Rock Area, making it easy to pair with those climbing spots. The climbing here is all bouldering, with seven routes spread across the V1 to V11 range. The easiest are V1, and the hardest is Physics Project at V11. Split Decision is a V2, and When Worlds Collide is a V5. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 82°F with lows near 44°F and only about two wet days in the month. Winter is much colder, with January highs around 41°F and lows near 17°F. JP's Trail is about 0.4 mile away, and Donkey Town Trail is about 0.7 mile away.
