South Shore of Donner Lake Boulder is a bouldering area in Donner Memorial State Park, California, within the Truckee Ranger District of Tahoe National Forest. The land is managed by State Park and Recreation, and the boulders sit about a mile from the park's Donner Lake South / Firepits climbing area and the Wei Hua Boulder. The climbing here is all bouldering, with five routes spread across the boulder field. The grades run from V0-1 to V1-2, and the most commonly climbed are PFD (Pupper Flotation Device) at V0-1 and Figurehead at V1-2. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 82°F with lows near 44°F and only about two wet days in the month. Winter is much colder, with January highs around 41°F and lows near 17°F. Other spots close by include Donner Creek for paddling, JP's Trail for hiking, and Granite Flat campground, about 3 miles away.
