Skofield Park

Skofield Park is a city-managed climbing area in California, sitting on its own land unit within the city. It works as a compact base for bouldering, with two named boulders, Caretaker Boulder and Slab Boulder, each about 0.1 mile away. The park also makes a convenient starting point for a short hike on the Rattlesnake trail, which lies about 0.2 mile off. The climbing here is all bouldering, and the routes run from V4- to V6. Vanity is the easier of the two, while Well-Coiffed, at V6, is the harder. The park's own boulders sit close together, so it's easy to move between them in a single visit. The weather is mild year-round, with typical averages from a nearby Santa Barbara weather station showing highs around 76 to 78°F from July through September and lows near 60°F. That station sits well below the park, so temperatures on the boulders run cooler. Winter brings the most wet days, about seven a month from December through February, with highs in the mid-60s. For more time outdoors, the Historic Olive Grove Loop Trail is about 0.8 mile away. Upper Oso Campground, roughly 7.7 miles off, offers a place to stay, and Sage Hill, about 7.9 miles away, is a saltwater fishing spot.
