The Secrets is a climbing area in the Placerville Ranger District of Eldorado National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. It sits within the larger network of climbing spots in this corner of the national forest, with another climbing area, Snags, about half a mile away. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb here. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at South Lake Tahoe put July and August highs around 80°F with lows in the low 40s and only about two wet days a month. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the Secrets, so temperatures at the climbing area run slightly cooler. Other options are close by. Cody Lake offers hiking about 2.5 miles away, and the South Fork American River is a paddling route at about 2.6 miles. Phantom Wall, another climbing area, is about 3.6 miles off, and Silver Fork Campground, about 3.8 miles away, is a good base for an overnight trip.
