The Loaf Boulder is a bouldering area in California's Eldorado National Forest, within the Placerville Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the site sits about 0.1 mile from Monks Rock, Campground Boulders and Lovers Leap Campground, which makes it easy to pair with a stay at the campground. The area holds eight bouldering routes, all rated on the V scale from V0 up to V6. The Loaf Traverse is a V3 and Manzanita Mangler is a V5, with The Offwidth at V6 as the hardest. The climbs are all boulder problems rather than routes on ropes, so the focus is on crimping and jugging rather than belaying. Summer is the driest and mildest time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at South Lake Tahoe put July and August highs around 80°F with lows near 40°F and only about two wet days a month. Winter runs cold, with highs around 43°F and lows near 18°F.
