The Hang is a climbing area in Joshua Tree National Park in California, managed by the National Park Service. It sits within the park's land, and the nearest town is Yucca Valley, about 16 miles away. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Yucca Valley put April highs around 73°F and October highs around 80°F, while July and August average highs near 96°F. A fee is charged for park activities. Because the station lies roughly 1,000 feet below the Hang, temperatures at the climbing area run cooler than those averages. Several other climbing areas sit about a tenth of a mile away, including Illicit Sweetie Boulder, Crypt, The and Planet X Area. The Minerva Hoyt Trail starts about half a mile off, and Sheep Pass Group campground is roughly 2 miles away.
