Split Boulder is a bouldering area in Joshua Tree National Park in California, managed by the National Park Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with the King Dome Area, King Dome - East Face and the Lynn Hill Memorial Boulder all about 0.1 mile away. The area is a compact bouldering destination, and a fee is charged for park use. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Yucca Valley show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 80°F, while July and August average about 96°F. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. The routes here are all boulders, with grades ranging from V0- to V2. Canasta is the easiest at V0-, and Sakura is the hardest at V2. The Ryan Mountain Trailhead is about 0.8 mile away for a hike, and Sheep Pass Group campground is about 1.8 miles off.
