The Galapagos is a climbing area in Joshua Tree National Park's Joshua Tree Wilderness in California, managed by the National Park Service. It lies within the park's wilderness boundaries and charges a fee for visits. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Yucca Valley weather station show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 80°F, while July and August average highs near 96°F. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet below the wilderness, so temperatures up high run cooler. The Iguana and Darwin Dome climbing areas are each about 0.1 mile away, and the Lost Pencil and Jerry's Quarry areas are within about a mile and a half. The Lost Horse Mine Loop Trail is about 2.3 miles off, and Sheep Pass Group campground is about 3 miles away.
