Erratica Central is a bouldering area in the Amador Ranger District of Eldorado National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Boulder Geek about 0.1 mile away and Erratica West about 0.4 mile away, so it works well as part of a day spent exploring the surrounding crags. The climbing here is all bouldering, and the two named routes are Fujiyama at V5 and Fujiyama Sit at V7. The grades are typical of the bouldering in this part of the forest, and the routes are close enough together to make a short session of two or three problems. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at South Lake Tahoe show July and August highs around 80°F with lows in the low 40s and only about two wet days a month. That station sits roughly 800 feet lower than the area, so temperatures at the boulders run a little cooler. The Thunder Mountain Loop hike starts about 0.6 mile away, and Castle Point Trail is about 0.8 mile off. For an overnight stay, Silver Lake Campground is about 1.1 mile away, and Caples Creek offers paddling about 1.5 miles away.
