El Cariso is a climbing area in California's Cleveland National Forest, within the Trabuco Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits among several other climbing spots, including Elysia and Burn Victim, all within about a tenth of a mile. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 74°F and October highs around 82°F, while July and August average in the low 90s. That station sits well below the area, so temperatures at the crag run cooler. The climbing here is bouldering. The one listed route, Nice Warm Up, is a V-easy boulder problem. For a longer outing, the Falcon and Viejo Tie hikes are each about a mile away, and Falcon Group campground is roughly 1.3 miles off.
