It sits within the forest's ranger district, and the Mount Hough Summit Connector and Mount Hough Trail both start within a third of a mile, making it easy to link a climb with a hike. The area has five sport routes, all of which were first ascended by Matt Delheimer in October 2016. The grades range from 5.8 to 5.11b, with the median at 5.10c. The routes are Crystal Light (5.8), Crystal Corner (5.9), The Dark Crystal (5.10c), Crystal Meth (5.10d) and Crystal Balls (5.11b). Spanish Creek Campground and Spanish Creek (Family CG) are both about 4.5 miles away. The Moon and Sunrise Slab, two other climbing areas, lie roughly 10 miles off.
