The Cove is a climbing area on Bureau of Land Management land within the Barstow Field Office in California, about 0.2 miles from the Downtown and Atlas Hugged Wall climbing areas. It sits among a cluster of named climbing spots, with Dragon Fang and the Border Crossing Area also within a third of a mile. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Victorville show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 79°F, while July and August average in the upper 90s. The area has six routes, five of them sport and one trad. Grades run from 5.8 up to 5.11b, with Traverse Route at 5.10a and Brainstem at 5.11b. Gutter Ball is the trad option at 5.10+. For a change from the rock, Farly Mine Trail is about 6 miles away and Chimney Rock Loop about 8. Sawtooth Canyon Campground is roughly 8 miles off.
