The Tahoe Mt. Loop Trail is a 5-mile out-and-back hike in California's Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, managed by the Forest Service. The route starts at about 6,400 feet and climbs to roughly 7,086 feet, with a total elevation gain of 774 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at South Lake Tahoe show July and August highs around 80°F with lows in the low 40s and only about two wet days a month. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run a little cooler. The Tahoe Mountain Connector starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Tahoe Mountain Trail for mountain biking is about 0.6 mile off. Fallen Leaf Campground is 1.4 miles away, and the Lake Tahoe - South Shore fishing area is 1.2 miles away.
