Stanislaus Peak is a hard hike in California's Stanislaus National Forest, within the Summit Ranger District. The route is an out-and-back of about 6.6 miles, with a total elevation gain of 1,247 feet, starting at a low point of 9,455 feet and reaching a high of 10,539 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trailhead is Saint Marys Pass Trailhead, which is open year-round. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows horses, but bikes are not permitted. That makes it a viable option for riders on horseback, though it is a challenging climb. Crunchy Boulder, a climbing area, sits just 0.1 mile from the peak. Blue Canyon and Chipmunk Flat are both within about 2 miles, and Leavitt Meadows Campground is about 5 miles away.
