Sky Meadows is a 4-mile out-and-back hike in California's John Muir Wilderness, within the Mammoth Ranger District of Inyo National Forest. The trail rises from about 9,400 feet to about 10,200 feet, a climb of 725 feet, and is rated moderate. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is natural-surfaced, with horses allowed and bikes not. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Tuolumne Meadows, which sits roughly 1,500 feet lower, show July highs around 71°F and lows near 38°F. That station's figures are not directly comparable to the higher trail, so expect cooler temperatures on the ridge. The trail starts close to Emerald Lake-Skelton Lake, about a tenth of a mile away, and the Talladega Nights and Crimp Ladder climbing areas are each about 0.2 miles off. Coldwater Campground, about 1.3 miles away, is the nearest place to camp.
