Peeler Lake is an easy out-and-back hike of about 2.5 miles in the Hoover Wilderness, part of the Bridgeport Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in California. The trail rises about 414 feet from a low point of 9,186 feet to a high of 9,604 feet, and it is managed by the Forest Service. The route is natural-surfaced and allows horses, and bikes are not permitted. It is open year-round, and the nearest town is Bridgeport. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Tuolumne Meadows, which sits about 900 feet lower, show July highs around 71°F with lows near 38°F. Winter is cold, with January highs around 41°F and lows near 13°F. Mule Pass is about 1.2 miles away, and Buckeye Canyon Trail and Buckeye Pass are each within about 1.5 miles. For an overnight stay, Lower Twin Lakes at Bridgeport is about 7.5 miles off.
