Little Bald Mountain is a moderate hike in the American River Ranger District of Tahoe National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 5 miles long, with an elevation gain of about 690 feet, and it makes an out-and-back trip from a low point of about 6,455 feet to a high of about 7,112 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Tahoe City show July highs around 78°F with lows near 46°F and only about one wet day in the month. That station sits roughly 900 feet lower than the summit, so temperatures on top run cooler. Bikes are allowed on the natural-surface trail.
