Fremont Lake is an easy out-and-back hike of about 2.6 miles in the Hoover Wilderness, part of the Bridgeport Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in California. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface route with a one-way climb of about 367 feet, from a low point of roughly 7,917 feet to a high of about 8,318 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Bodie, at a similar elevation, show July and August highs around 78°F with lows in the mid-30s, while winter highs sit near 41°F with lows in the teens. The trail is open to horses, and bikes are not allowed. The Ypparraquire Route and the Chain of Lakes hikes both start about half a mile away. Leavitt Meadows Campground and Obsidian Campground are each about 6 miles off.
