Dale Lake is an easy, short hike in the John Muir Wilderness, part of the High Sierra Ranger District of Sierra National Forest in California. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is about 1.2 miles long with a one-way elevation gain of 195 feet. It is an out-and-back route, starting and ending at the same point. The trail is natural-surface and not accessible. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. That makes it a good option for riders on foot or on horseback. The most comfortable time to go is summer, when typical averages from a nearby weather station run in the low to mid 80s °F. Winter brings typical averages in the low 20s °F. Several other destinations sit close by. Hell for Sure is about 0.3 miles away, and Rae Lake and Mosquito Pass are each about 0.6 miles away. Voyager Rock campground is about 7.5 miles off.
