Chipmunk Meadow is a hard hike in the Trinity Alps Wilderness, part of the Weaverville Ranger District of Shasta-Trinity National Forest in northern California. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is an out-and-back that climbs from about 4,350 feet to about 6,920 feet over roughly 10.7 miles, with a total elevation gain of about 3,150 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows horses, but bikes are not permitted. That makes it a good fit for riders on horseback, though the climb is steep and the distance is long. Several other destinations sit within a few miles. Steveale Creek is about 1.3 miles away, Long Gulch Lake about 1.9 miles, and the South Fork Coffee Creek Trail about 2 miles. For an overnight base, Big Flat Campground is about 6.4 miles away.
