Burney Lake is an easy out-and-back hike of about 1.6 miles in the Marble Mountain Wilderness, part of the Six Rivers National Forest in California. The trail rises from a low point of about 5,660 feet to a high of about 6,316 feet, a climb of roughly 607 feet, and the route is natural-surfaced. The hike lies within the Happy Camp and Ukonom ranger districts of the Six Rivers National Forest, and the Forest Service manages the land. It makes a straightforward outing for a day in the wilderness, with the trail's gentle grade and short length making it an easy fit for a longer trip in the area. Several other destinations sit within a few miles. Blue Granite Lake and the Cuddihy Valley Trail are each about 2 miles away, and Cuddihy Lakes is about 2.1 miles off. Paddlers can head to North Fork Wooley Creek, about 3.2 miles away.
