Bald Butte is a 2.85-mile out-and-back hike in the Ukonom Ranger District of Six Rivers National Forest in California. The trail rises from a low point of 748 feet to a high of 1,859 feet, a gain of 1,090 feet, and is rated moderate. The route is on natural surface and is open year round. Bikes and horses are allowed, so it works for a range of outings. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Orleans show May highs around 77°F and October highs around 71°F, while July and August average about 91°F.
