Aspen Meadow is a 9-mile out-and-back hike on natural surface in the Summit Ranger District of Stanislaus National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. The trail runs between a low point of 6,958 feet and a high of 7,229 feet, with an elevation gain of 418 feet one way, and it is rated hard. The route stays open year-round. Bikes and horses are both allowed, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical July and August highs reach about 75°F with lows near 60°F and only one wet day a month, based on averages from a nearby weather station in Yosemite Village. That station sits roughly 600 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the ridge run a bit cooler. Bell Meadow lies less than a mile away, and Crab Tree Cut Off is about 1.7 miles off. The Pinecrest Lake Buttress climbing area and Pioneer Trail campground are both about 2 miles from the trail.
