Talbot is a Forest Service campground in the American River Ranger District of Tahoe National Forest in California. It's a simple, low-key site with vault toilets and no fees required to use it. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. A nearby weather station records typical July highs around 82°F with lows in the mid-40s, and July and August see only about two wet days each. Winter is cold, with typical January highs near 41°F and lows around 17°F. Talbot Creek Trail starts about 2 miles away, and the Middle Fork American River is a similar distance for paddling. The Tevis Cup Trail is just over 2 miles off, and Ahart Campground is about 3.4 miles away.
