Summit camping area is a Forest Service site in the High Sierra Ranger District of Sierra National Forest in California. It's a rustic spot, with no toilets, water or garbage service on site. The site has one picnic table and a rock fire ring, so plan to carry your own supplies and leave no trace. No fees are required to use this site. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Huntington Lake show July and August highs around 74°F with lows near 49°F, and only one or two wet days a month. Winter months there run in the mid-20s for lows. Rock Creek is about 1.3 miles away and Bald Mountain about 2.2 miles. Dinkey and Dinkey Creek campgrounds are both within about 2.7 miles.
