Mill Creek Campground is a small, intimate Forest Service site on the shore of Bucks Lake in the Mt. Hough Ranger District of Plumas National Forest in northeastern California. The campground has 10 sites, two of which are a short walk in and suitable for tent campers. It's a base for exploring the surrounding wilderness and lake country, with the Mill Creek Trail leading into the Bucks Lake Wilderness, and a boat launch at Sandy Point Day Use Area nearby. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the Canyon Dam weather station, about 18 miles away, show July highs around 86°F with lows near 50°F and only about one wet day in the month. Winter runs cold, with January highs around 42°F and lows near 25°F. Vault toilets are the only on-site facility. A fee is charged for camping. The nearest neighbors are Sundew Campground and Hutchins Group Campground, both about a mile away. The Mill Creek Trail starts less than a mile off.
