Lower Bucks Campground is a Forest Service family campground on the north shore of Lower Bucks Lake, in the Mt. Hough Ranger District of Plumas National Forest in California. It sits just downstream from the much larger Bucks Lake, and the two lakes make a natural pairing for a trip to the area. The campground has seven lakeside sites, a small boat launch and a well-separated layout along the shore. It's a first-come, first-served spot, and the Scout camp nearby is often rented to other youth and church groups. Fishing and boating are popular here, along with swimming and hiking. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the Canyon Dam weather station, about 20 miles away, show July highs around 86°F with lows near 50°F and only about one wet day in the month. Winter is cold, with January highs around 42°F and lows near 25°F. The Sandy Point Day Use area and boat ramp at Bucks Lake are a little over 2 miles away. Hutchins Group Campground and Sundew Family Campground are both within half a mile. Mill Creek Trail is about 2 miles off.
