Chicago Stump is a Forest Service campground in the Hume Lake Ranger District of Sequoia National Forest in California. It is managed by the Forest Service, and there is no fee for staying here. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Grant Grove show July and August highs around 79°F with lows near 52°F and only about one wet day a month. Winter is much colder, with highs in the mid-40s and lows in the mid-20s from December through February. Several other spots are close by. The Cherry Gap and Indian Basin hikes are both within about two miles, and the Princess campground is about 2.4 miles away. The Grant Grove climbing area is about 3.8 miles from the camp.
