Bloomfield I is a developed Forest Service campground on the North Fork of the Mokelumne River in California's Stanislaus National Forest, within the Calaveras Ranger District. It sits along the river, and its setting makes it a base for exploring the surrounding trails, fishing the waters and relaxing in the forest. The site has vault toilets, and the Forest Service charges a fee. Visitors are asked to practice Leave No Trace and Pack it in, Pack it out principles. Summer is the most comfortable time to stay. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Dagget Pass, Nevada, show July highs around 75°F with lows near 49°F, while winter highs there hover in the mid-30s. That station sits about 500 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures at Bloomfield I run a bit cooler. Several places lie within a few miles. The 8N01 Snow Trail is less than a mile away, and Wolf Creek Trail is about 3 miles off. Highland Lakes and Hermit Valley campgrounds are both within about 4 miles.
