Haw Creek West, also known as Valinor, is a climbing area in the Buffalo Ranger District of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest in Arkansas. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits about a tenth of a mile from Haw Creek Falls Campground, which makes it easy to pair a bivy with a day on the rock. The climbing here runs from about 5.8 to 5.11d, with sport routes on the harder end and trad on the lower. Six routes are listed, including Lost My Lizard (5.10a) and Steep Show (5.11d). The routes are spread across a mix of sport and trad styles, and the hardest of them, Steep Show, was first climbed by Clay Frisbie and Mike Rumker. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Clarksville put October highs around 72°F with lows near 52°F, and April is similar at about 70°F by day and 49°F at night. Haw Creek East, another climbing area, lies about a mile away, and the Haw Creek Bluff Trail starts within a third of a mile. Paddlers can head to Little Piney Creek, about 6 miles off, or Hurricane Creek at roughly 7 miles.
