The Sugar Creek Multi-Use Trail is a 25-mile loop in the Cold Springs Ranger District of Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is a hard route, with a total elevation gain of 2,951 feet and a loss of 3,891 feet over the course of the loop. The climb is steady, and the steepest stretch comes at about 13.8 miles, where the grade reaches 16 percent. The trail starts at an elevation of 942 feet and reaches a high point of 1,990 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Booneville show October highs around 75°F and April highs around 73°F, while July and August average highs near 92°F. That station sits about 1,400 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the route run cooler. The trip takes about 10 hours. The Sugar Creek Hiking Trail and the Sugar Creek M.U.T. - 97E are both within half a mile. Jack Creek campground and the Hole in the Ground Mtn. Trail are each about a mile away.
