Lower Military Road Trail is a short, easy hike in Village Creek State Park in Arkansas, managed by State Park and Recreation. The trail is an out-and-back of about 1.5 miles, with a total elevation gain of 179 feet, and it starts at roughly 321 feet, rising to a high point of 338 feet before returning to the starting level. The steepest stretch comes early on, around 0.23 miles in, with a grade of about 13 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Wynne show October highs around 76°F with lows near 52°F, and April highs around 73°F. Midsummer highs typically reach the low 90s. The trail sits close to several other routes. Lake Austell Trail and the Bicycle Entrance Trail are each about 0.1 mile away, and Upper Military Road Trail is about half a mile off. Big Ben Trail is also about half a mile away.
