Deer Run is a short, easy hike in Village Creek State Park in Arkansas, managed by State Park and Recreation. The trail is an out-and-back of about 0.6 miles, with a total elevation gain of 75 feet, and it sits at a low point of 241 feet with a high of 259 feet. The climb is back-loaded, and the steepest stretch comes early, at about 7% grade. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Wynne show October highs around 76°F and April highs around 73°F, while July and August average in the low 90s. The hike takes about half an hour. The Deer Run Connector, a mountain biking route, starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Upper Military Road Trail is about 0.5 mile off.
