Unconventionals is a climbing area in Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, managed by the National Park Service. It sits within the park's land, and a fee is charged for access. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 81°F and October highs around 82°F, while June and July average in the low to mid 100s. That station sits about 1,600 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures up here run cooler. The area has five traditional routes, with grades ranging from 5.5 to 5.10+. Doghouse is the easiest at 5.5, and Doghouse Direct (aka Doggy Style) is the hardest at 5.10+. The other routes are Battlebitch at 5.8+ and Northeast Face at 5.10+. Nearby, Clear Creek Trail is about 1.4 miles away and Phantom Ranch Area about 2.2 miles. The Temples climbing area is 3.8 miles off, and North Rim Campground (AZ) is 5.8 miles away.
