Bill Williams Mountain is a climbing area in the Williams Ranger District of Arizona's Kaibab National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among the network of outdoor destinations that make up the district, and the nearest town is Williams, about 30 miles away. The area has nine climbing routes, with six of them done in traditional style and three on sport. Grades run from 5.8 up to 5.11d. Several of the climbs have known first ascents, including Brown Trout at 5.8 and Public Option at 5.11d, and the East Face of Finger Rock is 5.9. For the most comfortable conditions, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the Ft Valley weather station, about 27 miles away and roughly 1,500 feet lower, put May highs near 71°F and September highs near 76°F. Winter is cold, with January highs around 46°F and lows near 17°F. Balls Wall, another climbing area, is about a mile away, and the City of Williams Link hike starts about 2.6 miles off. Dogtown Lake and Dogtown Lake Campground and Group are both about 4.9 miles from the mountain.
