Africa Boulder is a bouldering area in Phoenix South Mountain Park, on city land in Phoenix, Arizona. It sits among a cluster of climbing areas, with Seven Samurai, The Amphitheatre and The Studio all about 0.1 mile away, and World Boulder at a similar distance. The park's trails, including the Young Man Trail and the Mormon Loop Trail, lie within half a mile. The bouldering here is all on the V scale, with 10 routes ranging from V0 to V11. The easiest is Camel Toes at V0, and the hardest is Scarface at V11. Slo-Mo is a V4- boulder with a first ascent by Chris Maker, and Hairy Cleavage is a V7. Winter and early spring are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in South Phoenix show January highs around 67°F and lows near 42°F, while summer highs climb into the 100s. That station sits about 600 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rock run a little cooler.
