Lyle Canyon is a 5.8-mile out-and-back hike in Arizona's Coronado National Forest, within the Sierra Vista Ranger District, about 6 miles from the town of Sierra Vista. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail rises from a low point of about 5,860 feet to a high of about 6,451 feet, a gain of 536 feet over the course of the route. It is a moderate hike, and the trail surface is natural, so expect dirt and rock rather than pavement. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 73°F with lows near 38°F, and October highs around 77°F with lows near 44°F. The station sits roughly 1,400 feet below the canyon, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. Summer is hot and wet, with July and August bringing highs in the mid-80s and rain on about 12 to 14 days a month. The Huachuca hike starts just over half a mile away. Peterson Peak and the Scotia Canyon Trail #127 are both within about 3 miles. For camping, Rock Bluff Group Site is about 3 miles off.
