Hawes is a hike of about 6.9 miles on an out-and-back route, with a total elevation gain of 576 feet, on land managed by the Bureau of Reclamation in Arizona. The trail runs on natural surface and allows bikes, so mountain bikers can ride it as well as hikers. The most comfortable months for a visit are late fall through early spring. Typical averages from the nearby Fountain Hills weather station show November highs around 74°F with lows near 51°F, and March highs around 74°F, while summer highs climb into the 100s. Several other trails sit right next to this route. The Hawes Trail and Ridge are each about 0.1 mile away, and the Roadrunner Trail is also close by. For an overnight stay, Larry Forbis campground is about 7.2 miles away.
