White Trail is a loop hike in northeast Alabama's DeSoto State Park, inside the boundary of Little River Canyon National Preserve. The loop runs about 2.4 miles and is rated easy, and bikes are allowed on it. The route stays between roughly 1,470 and 1,780 feet in elevation. Its steepest stretch reaches about an 11 percent grade around two-thirds of a mile in, and the rest of the loop is gentler than that. Fall is the most comfortable time to go. A nearby weather station at Valley Head typically averages October highs around 72°F and lows near 48°F. That station sits several hundred feet below the trail, so temperatures on the loop run somewhat cooler. Silver Trail starts about 0.1 mile away, and the Family Bike Loop is about 0.3 mile away. Climbers can head to Winter Wall roughly 2 miles off, and paddlers can try the East Fork Little River about 4 miles away.
