Jones Valley Loop Trail is a short, easy hike in Alabama, about 0.6 miles from the community of Huntsville Hills. The trail is an out-and-back route that covers roughly 1.3 miles round trip, with a total elevation gain of about 150 feet. The climb is gentle, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.3 miles in, where the grade reaches about 21 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 74°F with lows near 47°F, and April highs around 71°F. That station sits about 320 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the loop run a little cooler. Bikes are allowed on the trail, but horses are not. The Fanning Trail and Stevenson Trail both start about 0.1 mile away, and the Walsingham Trail is about 0.3 mile off. For climbing, the Arrowhead Trail is about 3.3 miles away.
