Surrender Trail

Surrender Trail is a short, moderate out-and-back hike in northern Alabama, about half a mile from the community of Walker Woods. The trail is less than a mile long, with a total elevation gain of about 12 feet. That makes it a low-effort outing, but the climb is a modest one, and the route rises from about 1,010 feet to about 1,035 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Owens Cross Roads show October highs around 74°F with lows near 47°F, and April highs around 71°F. That station sits roughly 445 feet lower than the trail's high point, so expect temperatures on the trail to run slightly cooler. Several other trails lie within a mile.
