About this water

The Black River in the western Upper Peninsula flows through the Ottawa National Forest and is a superb wild brook trout stream with excellent habitat and minimal fishing pressure. The river cascades through a series of spectacular waterfalls before emptying into Lake Superior, offering diverse fishing conditions from pools to riffles. Wild brook trout are the primary target, with fish averaging 8-12 inches.
