Big Frog Area is a river fishing spot in Tennessee's Cherokee National Forest, within the Ocoee Ranger District and the South Cherokee National Forest & Wildlife Management Area. The land is managed jointly, and the area is not reservable. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to fish here. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 73°F with lows near 48°F, and April highs around 72°F. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the area, so temperatures at the river run a little cooler. Several other outdoor spots lie within a short drive. The Blue Ridge Divide Trail and Sylco Loop are both about 3 miles away, and Iron Mountain is across the line in Georgia at about 3.6 miles. Cottonwood Patch Campground, about 4 miles off, offers a place to stay.
