San Gorgonio Wilderness

San Gorgonio Wilderness is a 64,209-acre federally protected backcountry area in California, managed by the Forest Service. This is primitive terrain where motorized travel, mechanized equipment, and developed infrastructure are prohibited—you'll find no roads or mountain-bike trails here, only foot and stock travel on established routes.

The wilderness offers hiking and backpacking as the primary ways to experience it. Visitors come for remote backcountry camping, ridge walking, and the solitude that comes with traveling on foot through undeveloped country. The landscape is characterized by steep terrain, high elevation, and the kind of isolation that defines true wilderness.
