Redfield Canyon (East) Wilderness Area

Redfield Canyon (East) Wilderness Area is a 2,683-acre federally designated Wilderness in Arizona managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The area preserves a primitive backcountry landscape where foot travel and self-reliance are central to the experience. Hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to explore this protected terrain, offering visitors a chance to experience solitude in an undeveloped setting away from roads and mechanized access.

As a federally protected Wilderness, the area operates under strict non-motorized use rules. No vehicles, motors, or mechanized equipment are permitted; travel is by foot only. Visitors must practice Leave No Trace principles—pack out all waste, camp responsibly, and minimize your footprint. There are no maintained facilities, services, or developed infrastructure. Access requires self-sufficiency in navigation, water, and backcountry skills. Before visiting, check current conditions and any seasonal closures with the BLM office overseeing this area.
